Bush had dual degrees and a higher grade average the John Kerry, was a fighter pilot and Kerry commanded a little boat (which a petty officer could do and often did), yet Bush was stupid. Reagan was stupid. Ford was stupid. It was fun to watch Newt Gringrich take the debate "moderators" to task for asking stupid questions. Part of me wants to see Gringrich win the Republican nomination just for the spectacle of watching him expose how stupid Obama is during debates. Right now latest polls show Gringrich in a double digit lead over the field of Republican candidates, so I might get my wish. A side note on the "baggage" Gringrich carries, it's actually just minor stuff blown out of proportion, and the story of him serving his sick wife divorce papers while she was in the hospital never happened. The Democrats and their sycophants in the media can call Republicans stupid all they want; that just lends itself to underestimating the opposition.Steven Dexterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15299032034330006689noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33445632.post-3708500850396435772011-11-17T21:24:44.875+01:002011-11-17T21:24:44.875+01:00No one should feel they need to apologise for help...No one should feel they need to apologise for helping to portray a President as he really was.

Had Europe (and France in whom the Afghan minister of Defence had so much hope) moved at the right time, maybe there would never have been a 11/9, which then triggered the belated reaction to oust the Taliban regime in Afghanistan, followed by the incursion in Iraq to bring down the Saddam regime. But that, of course, is history.

I followed the latter almost on a day to day basis. One remembers how the world was relieved and surprised that it seemed to be all over so quickly, up until the first free Iraqi elections, just before the al-Qaida back-lash. Then all hell broke lose. One even had the impression that too many people were even happy about it. Happy to be able to say- 'I told you so'. Mostly the noncommittals, those (like Chirac who turned a deaf ear to Massoud's call for help) who were against the incursion in the first place, and were only too pleased to see Bush as the scape-goat, or the evil doer, when it was already blatantly obvious where the evil was coming from.

Today the evil appears to be more isolated, and the Muslim world is at last taking a more responsible stand, but the war against tyranny will only be over, when it no longer exists.Mirinohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14762774089637304953noreply@blogger.com
