Athens burns

Many feared this would happen, and it has. Three people were killed and four were seriously injured when an Athens bank went up in flames as an estimated 100,000 people took to the streets to protest against harsh austerity measures aimed at saving the country from bankruptcy. 1. Another reason 'why it won't work' seems to be that the Greeks are not inclined to allow it to work.
What then will be the solution? That the Greeks will return to their drachma? Then other nations will also want to opt out. This could eventually leave Germany as the only remaining euro zone, with Monsieur Trichet pondering over an empty desk. They could then call it the 'euromark'. In any case that's more or less what it is already.
