ReplyDeleteLevon Helm was one of my boyhood heroes and he continued to be a hero of mine as an adult. He was a great storyteller because he made you feel the emotions of the stories he told. Many times I have listened to The Band as I drove across the bridges that span the Atchafalaya basin in Louisiana, my thoughts tracking deeper into those mythical Southlands of "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" and "Ophelia." I'll miss him just like I would miss one of my best friends.
