Moving backwards?

Moving backwards on the foreign policy front with Barack Obama in charge? Perhaps they forgot Machiavelli's lesson …

From this arises an argument: whether it is better to be loved than feared. I reply that one should like to be both one and the other; but since it is difficult to join them together, it is much safer to be feared than to be loved when one of the two must be lacking.

  1. Obama and his people remember Machiavelli's lessons...he and they only use them on their domestic enemies. Women, Sen. Clinton...old men, Sen. McCain, Christians, Libertarians, Conservatives, and anyone one else that disagrees with him. He doesn't think terrorism and Islamofacism is a threat, so Machiavelli's principles need not be applied.

  2. That's one of my favorite quotes, and, in my experience, very true.

The post you linked to is interesting and disturbing. I'm not as down on Obama as the author seems to be, but I have doubts. Just like I never agreed with Bush & Co that we can export democracy with armed force, I don't agree with Obama, who seems to take the Rodney King approach to foreign policy--"Why can't we all just get along?"

  3. Pres. Obama has his own way of governing his people. I believe he learned his lessons well and will never do the same error again and again. What he needs now is cooperation from all the citizens of the world (not only of America).
